home, in memory
this piece is inspired by the delicate motifs and varied stitches of chikankari, bringing together fragments of pattern into an abstract composition that feels both familiar and reimagined. intricate and minimal threadwork coexist throughout the piece, echoing the richness of a craft shaped by time, care, and lived experience. rather than focusing on a single motif, the work gathers many --- layered, repeated, softened, and rearranged much like memory itself.
built using traditional chikankari stitches and forms, the piece reinterprets them within a more contemporary visual language, allowing the craft to find a place within a modern home while still holding onto its roots.
at its core, the work is a personal ode to lucknow --- a city that lives in our memory not just through its architecture or craft, but through feeling. a piece very close to our hearts, shaped by familiarity, nostalgia, and home.
